Stories have the power to engage people in evaluation & use of findings to create community change. Shared understanding fostered by stories helps create bridges among diverse stakeholders to enhance collaboration. Storytelling approaches relevant to evaluation include: Most Significant Change, Digital Storytelling, photovoice, journey mapping, storytelling circles, oral history, narrative inquiry, performance stories, & more. This participatory session will encourage evaluators to share (1) types of storytelling they've used or would like to try, (2) their preferences for particular storytelling approaches & methods - whether well-established ones or innovations for their unique contexts, (3) their experiences with gathering & analyzing data to create impactful stories (what worked/did not), & (4) how they combine storytelling approaches/methods with other qualitative and/or quantitative methods. I will briefly summarize, using a handout, some key approaches to storytelling to help guide the discussion. Each Lightning Round will build on the previous round's discussion points.
