Complex organizations can be like archipelagos, with departments and units as separate islands, and hard-to navigate waters in between. Internal evaluators are uniquely positioned to interface and link data-generating and data-using functional areas such as marketing, programs, operations, business development, and research, within and across an organization. This session will examine how internal evaluators can help to build bridges within an organization that promote efficiencies, data-sharing, program quality, and institutional learning. Leaders and internal evaluators from two different organizations will share successes and lessons learned from their approaches to bridge the gaps within an organization. They will look at tangible case studies, examining how organizational infrastructure, org charts, and 'ways of working' can help or hinder connectedness -- and examine the role of internal evaluation in spotting and supporting good information practice.
