This presentation reflects on challenges and lessons learned from an internal, developmental evaluation of the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness 'School-based Integrated Youth Health Model'. Reflections will focus on (a) patterns that emerged in implementing a developmental evaluation framework within a government context, (b) what affect these patterns had on the evaluation, and (c) how the evaluation was adapted to optimize opportunities in the moment to contribute to the development of the School-based Integrated Youth Health Model. Recommendations will be provided to enhance the utility of developmental evaluations within a government context, including engagement practices, design, and methods options.
