As evaluators, we have too often experienced the end of our evaluation journey with the submission of the evaluation report. Stakeholders check off the evaluation box and soon, the report starts to collect dust, particularly if the results were unexpected and undesirable. The program goes on with few evidence-informed changes and the evaluation report is not considered as a tool in this process. But it doesn't have to be this way. In this session, we will explore how effective communication strategies throughout the project can bridge the gap between evaluation reporting and evidence-informed decision-making. More specifically, we will discuss how evaluators can influence action on undesirable or controversial evaluation results through increasing stakeholder engagement and buy-in. Participants will learn tips and tricks from best practices and shared personal experiences for communication throughout the project cycle and will leave the session with ideas and resources that they can use in future evaluation to increase utilization of evaluation results, even undesirable ones.
