Evaluation practice as change agents for the evaluand – the social innovation that will take us to where we want to be. This will be the focus of the discussion that examines how we reflect and act both as individual evaluators and as an evaluation community to do whatever it takes to change the narrative that perpetuates the injustice that continues to exist in our world. In 2016, CES committed to incorporating reconciliation in its values, principles, and practices. In 2018, in Calgary and Yellowknife, evaluators in Canada began examining co-creation, the concept of evaluation without dominion recognizing that racism and privilege still prevails. Canadian journalists are working together to Measure Progress. We, as Canadian evaluators, propose that when we evaluate and learn from the collective and concerted actions we are facilitating the building of bridges that revitalize the relationship between Indigenous peoples and society in order to achieve reconciliation to make for a better, stronger society.
